Xabi Alonso reportedly regrets Real Madrid move after chaotic season ends in turmoil

Real Madrid’s disappointing campaign has reportedly taken another dramatic twist following an alleged dressing room clash involving Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde, with reports claiming the confrontation left Valverde hospitalised.

The season had initially begun with high expectations after Xabi Alonso replaced Carlo Ancelotti as manager last summer. Supporters believed Alonso’s arrival from Bayer Leverkusen would help the Spanish giants challenge strongly for the La Liga title and pursue a record-extending 16th UEFA Champions League crown.

Although Alonso guided Madrid to victory in his first El Clasico against FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu, the momentum quickly faded after defeat to their rivals in the Spanish Super Cup final.

The loss reportedly marked the beginning of the end for Alonso’s short spell in charge, with both parties later agreeing to part ways by mutual consent.

According to reports from Cadena SER, Alonso now believes accepting the Real Madrid job came too early in his managerial career. The former midfielder is said to feel the timing was wrong and reportedly sees the turmoil that unfolded this season as evidence of that mistake.

Sources claim divisions within the squad intensified after Alonso’s departure in January, with some players unhappy about the club’s decision to let him leave, while others reportedly welcomed the change.

The tensions are believed to have contributed to the growing instability within the dressing room, eventually leading to this week’s reported altercation between Tchouameni and Valverde.

Despite the difficult experience, Alonso is still regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young managers and is reportedly considering his next move ahead of the summer transfer window.

One possible destination could be Liverpool FC, another former club of Alonso’s, should questions continue to grow over the future of current manager Arne Slot.
