Haggai Ghana has renewed its call for greater investment in Christian leadership development and evangelism as it seeks to tackle what it describes as “gospel poverty” across communities.
The appeal was made during the organisation’s Fundraising and Awards Night held in Accra under the theme, “Raising Funds, Developing Skills and Building Capacities to Help End Gospel Poverty.”
The event, held at the SSNIT Guest House in Accra, brought together church leaders, development partners, corporate organisations and members of the Christian community to support the organisation’s mission of equipping leaders to influence society through Christian values.
Speaking to WTV Ghana on the sidelines of the programme, President of Haggai Ghana, Mr. Daniel Kwateng, said the organisation remains committed to fulfilling the biblical mandate of spreading the Gospel and empowering believers to share the message of Christ in their respective spheres of influence.
He explained that gospel poverty goes beyond economic deprivation and refers to situations where people have little or no access to the teachings of Jesus Christ. According to him, communities become spiritually impoverished when the Gospel is not heard, understood, embraced or reflected in everyday life.
Mr. Kwateng noted that Haggai Ghana’s work is focused on addressing this challenge through leadership development, discipleship, stewardship education, evangelism and technology-driven training programmes. He said these initiatives are designed to equip Christians with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively communicate their faith and positively impact society.
He further stressed that every Christian has a responsibility to serve as an ambassador of the Gospel, regardless of their profession or social status. He described workplaces, businesses and communities as important mission fields where believers can influence others through both word and example.
The Haggai Ghana President also highlighted the importance of mentorship and discipleship in advancing the Christian faith, noting that the organisation seeks to raise leaders who will in turn train and inspire others, creating a sustainable cycle of spiritual growth and transformation.
The fundraising component of the event was aimed at mobilising resources to expand Haggai Ghana’s training programmes and outreach activities, while the awards segment recognised individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to leadership development and Christian ministry.
Mr. Kwateng called on churches, corporate institutions and individuals to partner with Haggai Ghana in its efforts to build the capacity of Christian leaders and extend the reach of the Gospel. He expressed confidence that sustained investment in leadership training and evangelism would help transform lives, strengthen communities and address the challenge of gospel poverty in Ghana and beyond.
