The Deputy Ashanti Regional Coordinator for the Free Senior High School (SHS) Secretariat, Michael Owusu Baafi, has denied allegations that parents and students are being charged money at the Placement Resolution Centre at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI).
Mr. Baafi said the entire placement resolution process under the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is free and that parents and students are not required to pay any money to have their concerns addressed.
His comments follow allegations that some individuals at the centre were demanding money from parents in exchange for assistance with school placement challenges.
Mr. Baafi cautioned parents and students against paying money to anyone who claims to have the ability to secure school placements or resolve placement-related challenges.
He explained that while parents or students may have to print placement forms and other documents outside the centre, such services are separate from the placement resolution process and are not compulsory.
“No payment is required at the resolution tables,” he stressed.
According to Mr. Baafi, he has personally cautioned parents against giving money to individuals who claim they can assist them with their placement issues.
He added that some individuals had been removed from the centre after they were found engaging in activities that could lead parents and students to believe that payment was required to access placement assistance.
Mr. Baafi urged parents and students to remain vigilant and report anyone who demands money in exchange for assistance with their CSSPS placement concerns.
He reiterated that the official placement resolution process is free and that no one should pay for services provided at the centre.
