Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has joined a high-level meeting between FIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Nigerian football authorities to discuss comprehensive reforms within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The meeting was held at FIFA House in Zurich on Tuesday and brought together representatives from FIFA, CAF, CAF advisers, Nigeria’s National Sports Commission (NSC) and the NFF administration.
The discussions follow the resignation of NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau and other key officials of the federation.
FIFA has formally accepted the resignations and agreed to continue working with the Nigerian authorities on a roadmap aimed at restructuring and strengthening the administration of Nigerian football.
According to the NFF, the talks focused on short-, medium- and long-term reforms designed to promote a more inclusive, stable and effective football administration.
The federation said FIFA had pledged to continue its engagement with the Nigerian government, the NFF administration and CAF to develop a comprehensive reform roadmap.
Mr Okraku, who also serves as CAF Second Vice-President, attended the meeting alongside former NFF President and ex-FIFA Council member Amaju Pinnick.
The reform talks come at a challenging period for Nigerian football, following the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Super Falcons’ inability to secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The latest engagement is therefore expected to pave the way for institutional reforms aimed at restoring stability and strengthening the governance of Nigerian football.
