Manhyia delegation rallies kotoko ahead of super clash

A prominent team from Manhyia Palace paid a morale-boosting visit to the players of Asante Kotoko SC on Thursday, February 12, as preparations intensify for their highly anticipated showdown with Accra Hearts of Oak SC this Sunday.

The delegation was headed by Chief of Staff Kofi Badu and included respected traditional authorities such as Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II and Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI. Their presence was meant to lift the spirits of the squad and remind them of the pride and expectations that come with representing the club.

The visit comes at a crucial moment for Kotoko, who are looking to recover from a difficult run of results. The team recently fell 3-1 to Heart of Lions FC and then suffered another setback after being knocked out of the FA Cup. Their cup journey ended in a tense penalty shootout loss to Aduana FC at the iconic Baba Yara Stadium.

The disappointing exit triggered a major shake-up, leading to the resignation of head coach Karim Zito and raising questions about the team’s direction as they approach one of the biggest fixtures on the local football calendar.

Despite the recent struggles, the Porcupine Warriors remain determined to respond strongly and restore confidence among their supporters. Sunday’s clash offers a perfect stage to prove their resilience and reignite their campaign.

Kickoff is scheduled for 17:00 GMT, with fans expecting a fiercely contested encounter between the long-standing rivals
