The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a sweeping ban on all campaign-related materials ahead of its 2025 National Annual Delegates Conference, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The directive, announced by Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the National Planning Committee, is aimed at ensuring order, neutrality, and unity during the event, which will bring together thousands of party delegates from across the country.
“There shall be no billboards, banners, posters, flyers, T-shirts, or souvenirs with aspirant branding allowed at the venue or within Accra,” Mr. Osei-Owusu stated during a press briefing held on Saturday, July 12.
He added that a “complete ban has been placed on all forms of campaign activities,” stressing that the restriction applies before, during, and after the conference, covering both the main venue and surrounding areas.
To enforce the directive, the NPP has formed a dedicated grounds and operations team, backed by compliance monitors tasked with patrolling and maintaining order throughout the event.
“All such prohibited campaign materials shall be removed and destroyed by the team,” Mr. Osei-Owusu warned, adding that no exceptions would be tolerated.
The party says the move is designed to maintain a level playing field for all aspirants and preserve the integrity of the conference, which is expected to influence the future direction of the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
