Methodist Presiding Bishop urges new Somanya Bishop to prioritise church members’ welfare

The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, The Most. Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has called on the newly inducted Bishop of the Somanya Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ebenezer Douglas Bruce-Tagoe, to prioritise the welfare of church members and guard against the abuse of leadership authority.

He made the call at Wesley Cathedral in Somanya during the induction service of Rt. Rev. Bruce-Tagoe as the fifth Bishop of the Somanya Diocese, where he preached on the theme, “Tending the Flock of God.”

Addressing the new Bishop’s responsibilities, the Presiding Bishop emphasised that effective pastoral ministry requires leaders to pay attention to the needs of their congregations and offer guidance through both favourable and difficult circumstances.

He urged Rt. Rev. Bruce-Tagoe to approach his assignment with humility, compassion and a genuine commitment to the spiritual well-being of the people under his care.

The Presiding Bishop also cautioned against leadership practices that exploit church members or misuse the resources of the Diocese.

He encouraged the new Bishop to model his leadership on Jesus Christ, whose example demonstrated selflessness and sacrifice.

He further challenged him to build on the work of previous Bishops and focus on advancing the Diocese rather than allowing existing challenges to define his administration.
