Methodist Health Sunday: Presiding Bishop commends health workers, urges renewed support for Church’s Health Ministry

The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has called on members of the Church to renew their commitment to the healing ministry by supporting Methodist health institutions through prayer, financial contributions, volunteerism, and advocacy.

In his goodwill message to mark the 2026 Methodist Health Sunday, the Presiding Bishop said this year’s celebration is being observed under the theme, “Walking in the Word: Equipped for Every Good Work,” based on 2 Timothy 3:16–17.

According to him, the theme serves as a reminder that the Word of God is not only a guide for believers’ spiritual journey but also equips Christians to engage in acts of love, compassion, healing, and transformation within society.

He noted that The Methodist Church Ghana continues to fulfil this calling through its network of hospitals, clinics, health centres, medical outreach initiatives, and public health programmes across the country, demonstrating Christ’s love in practical and life-changing ways.

The Presiding Bishop expressed appreciation to healthcare professionals, administrators, chaplains, volunteers, and development partners whose dedication continues to sustain the Church’s health ministry despite challenging circumstances.

“As we observe this Health Sunday, I encourage every Methodist to renew their commitment to the healing ministry of the Church,” he said, urging members to actively support Methodist health institutions through fervent prayer, generous financial support, volunteer service, and informed advocacy.

The Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu observed that the faithful support of members has enabled the Church to extend quality healthcare services to many communities while fulfilling its mission of holistic ministry.

He expressed the hope that this year’s Health Sunday celebration would inspire members to remain steadfast in God’s Word and be fully equipped for every good work that promotes healing, hope, and wholeness.

The Presiding Bishop concluded by praying that God would continue to use the Church as an instrument of His love in advancing health and restoration across the nation and beyond, while blessing and strengthening all those committed to the healing ministry of the Church.
