The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has announced that 70 percent of the cost of the Church’s Youth Pavilion project at Aburi has been paid, reaffirming the Church’s commitment to providing a permanent facility for the development of young people.
The announcement was made during the official opening of the 20th Biennial Connexional Youth and Students’ Assembly (YASA 2026) at the Anagkazo Bible and Ministry Training Centre in Akuapem Mampong in the Eastern Region.
The Youth Pavilion, when completed, will serve as a dedicated centre where Methodist youth can gather for worship, leadership training, conferences, mentorship programmes and other activities aimed at nurturing their spiritual, intellectual and personal development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Presiding Bishop disclosed that although the project has experienced delays, significant financial progress has been made, with 70 percent of the total project cost already settled. He expressed confidence that construction would advance steadily toward completion.
He explained that the rocky terrain of the project site at Aburi had posed engineering challenges and contributed to the slow pace of work. Despite the setbacks, he assured members that the Church remains committed to seeing the project through.
Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu also challenged Methodist youth to embrace discipline, diligence and responsible stewardship of the opportunities God places before them. He cautioned against laziness, complacency and wasting valuable time, stressing that success is determined by how individuals use the period between receiving an opportunity and being held accountable for it.
He urged the young people to remain rooted in God’s Word and to develop lives marked by faithfulness, service and excellence.
The five-day assembly is being organised by the Youth Development and Ministry Directorate of The Methodist Church Ghana under the leadership of Very Rev. Gideon Kwame Dotse Osabutey.
YASA 2026 marks the 20th Biennial Connexional Youth and Students’ Assembly and has brought together members of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF), Association of Methodist Brigades (AMB), Methodist Girls’ Fellowship (MGF), Ghana Methodist Students’ Union (GHAMSU), as well as delegates from dioceses across the Connexion, including the North America Diocese and the Europe Mission.
The assembly is being held on the theme, “Walking in the Word: Equipped for Every Good Work,” drawn from 2 Timothy 3:16–17, with participants expected to engage in worship, leadership development, policy discussions and programmes aimed at strengthening youth ministry across The Methodist Church Ghana.
