The Methodist Church Ghana has begun a fresh review of its youth ministry, with church leaders and young delegates gathering in Akuapem Mampong for the opening of the 2026 Connexional Youth and Students’ Assembly.
The assembly, the Church’s highest decision-making forum for youth and student ministry, is expected to assess the impact of existing programmes while adopting new strategies to address the changing needs of young people and strengthen their role in the life of the Church.
The official opening ceremony brought together the Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, Lay Chairmen, Ministers and delegates from across the Connexion, marking the start of several days of deliberations on the future of youth ministry.
Discussions during the biennial gathering are expected to focus on leadership development, discipleship, evangelism, education and the participation of young people in the mission of the Church.
Delegates will also review policies and initiatives designed to equip Methodist youth with the skills and values required to serve both the Church and society.
In addition to business sessions, the programme will include worship, Bible study, leadership training and fellowship, providing delegates with an opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences from their respective dioceses.
Resolutions adopted at the end of the assembly are expected to shape the direction of youth and student ministry across The Methodist Church Ghana over the next two years.
