Presiding Bishop holds courtesy call on KU Leuven Deans during Europe mission tour

The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has paid a courtesy call on the Deans of the Faculty of Theology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium as part of his Europe Missions tour of duty.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration in theology, mission, and academic exchange between KU Leuven and The Methodist Church Ghana. Discussions focused particularly on opportunities for Ghanaian Methodist ministers seeking to pursue higher theological education and the possibility of recruiting qualified scholars to serve at the Trinity Theological Seminary (TTS), Legon.

Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Theodora Asamoah-Gyadu, and The Very Rev. Dr. Bernard B. Bosompem, the Presiding Bishop engaged the leadership of the Faculty of Theology on shared academic interests, ministerial formation, and global theological scholarship. The engagement stresses the Church’s commitment to academic excellence and the continuous development of clergy for effective ministry in a rapidly changing global context.

During the visit, the Presiding Bishop also interacted with international students from Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe who are currently pursuing theological studies at KU Leuven. The engagement provided an opportunity to encourage cross-cultural theological dialogue and reaffirm the Church’s interest in nurturing globally informed theological leadership.

The meeting was facilitated by Mr. Eric Oppong-Yeboah, an alumnus of Trinity Theological Seminary and a graduate student at the Faculty of Theology, KU Leuven. His role was instrumental in coordinating the engagement and advancing discussions on future academic cooperation.

The visit marks a significant step toward deepening international partnerships that will enhance theological education, research, and ministerial training within The Methodist Church Ghana.
