The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, has led the Church in thanksgiving to God as the Tamale Diocese marked its 35th Anniversary Grand Durbar at the Bethel Methodist Cathedral in Tamale.
The address focused on gratitude to God for the gift of life, the grace of a new year, and the sustained growth of the Tamale Diocese over the past 35 years. The Presiding Bishop acknowledged God’s faithfulness in guiding the Diocese from its establishment to its present stage of development, describing the journey as one shaped by perseverance, sacrifice, and steadfast faith.
New Year greetings and congratulations were extended to the clergy, laity, and leadership of the Diocese on behalf of the Methodist Church Ghana. Appreciation was also expressed for the warm reception accorded the leadership of the Church during the anniversary celebration.
Prayers were offered for divine blessing upon the Tamale Diocese, with the anniversary identified as a potential turning point in its spiritual life and mission. The Presiding Bishop called for renewed commitment to the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ across Northern Ghana and sought God’s guidance, strength, and favor to accompany the work of the Diocese.
Reflection on the history of Methodism in Northern Ghana highlighted that the Church in the region was established through sustained labour, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication by pioneers and missionaries. The continued growth and impact of the Tamale Diocese were described as a testimony to the enduring power of faith and perseverance.
The address concluded with prayers for God’s continued blessings upon the Tamale Diocese and the entire Methodist Church Ghana. Members were encouraged to remain united in purpose, steadfast in faith, and committed to advancing God’s mission as the Church looks toward the future with renewed vision and hope.
