Tension has gripped the Kwahu traditional area following the sudden disappearance of the queen mother, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III.
The Paramount Chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, confirmed that heavily armed police officers stormed the Abene palace early Monday morning, November 17, 2025, amid indiscriminate gunfire.
While several individuals were reportedly taken into custody during the operation, the queen mother’s absence was only noticed afterward, raising fears of a possible abduction.
“The people were arrested into vehicles and taken to an unknown location. I contacted the Kwahu Police Commander to verify whether he sanctioned the operation, but he told me he had no knowledge of the individuals or any such activity,” the Paramount Chief explained.
Information gathered by the Chief points to his predecessor, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II—destooled in 2024 after a seven-year reign—as potentially orchestrating the raid.
The police have not yet released an official statement, and the whereabouts of Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III remain unknown, leaving the community in a state of uncertainty and fear.
This development has sparked widespread concern in the Eastern Region, with locals calling for swift action to ensure the queen mother’s safety and restore calm in the Kwahu traditional area.
