The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed that the previously halted recruitment screening for the 2025/2026 intake in the Greater Accra Region will restart on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
This update was issued in a new release signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, who serves as the Acting Director General of Public Relations.
According to the statement, the exercise will now take place at eight sub-centres spread across five major locations to ensure better coordination and crowd control. GAF clarified that qualified applicants will be grouped into batches of 600 candidates, and each individual will receive a text message indicating their reporting date, batch number, and assigned venue.
The approved screening centres include two units at El-Wak Stadium, two at Nicholson Park in Burma Camp, one at the Air Force Base in Burma Camp, two centres at TRADOC in Teshie, and another at the Eastern Naval Command in Tema.
Applicants have been encouraged to adhere strictly to the guidelines in their SMS notices and to regularly check the recruitment portal for any new announcements. Anyone who does not receive a message by November 20 is expected to reach out via the official helpline or the designated WhatsApp contact for assistance.
To prevent overcrowding, the Armed Forces reminded the public that only applicants will be allowed into the centres. Friends, relatives, and well-wishers are advised to stay away to maintain order and smooth operations.
The recruitment process had been suspended earlier after a stampede led to tragic casualties. A Board of Inquiry has since been tasked with investigating the events that led to the incident and is currently carrying out its mandate.
As part of efforts to rebuild public confidence, GAF has appointed new heads to oversee the entire Greater Accra recruitment operations. Commodore F.A. Nyarko will now supervise Human Resources, Colonel F. Kusi-Darko will take charge of Manpower, and Colonel G.B. Eduah will lead Information Technology.
Captain Arhin further stated that anyone proven responsible for lapses will be held accountable. She added that the Armed Forces extends heartfelt condolences to the affected families and regrets the distress caused.
In addition, GAF noted that those injured will continue receiving free treatment at the 37 Military Hospital until they are fully recovered. A special support package will also be offered to victims and families affected by the earlier incident.
The statement concluded with a call for public cooperation as the Armed Forces works to ensure a safer and more transparent recruitment process going forward.
