The Northern Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana has successfully held its 7th Annual Diocesan Lecture at the Christ the King Methodist Church in East Legon, reaffirming its commitment to spiritual growth and evangelistic renewal.
In his opening remarks, Bro. Senyo Hosi, the Diocesan Lay Chairman, explained that the annual lecture was instituted seven years ago following the creation of the Diocese from the Accra Diocese. The initiative, he noted, was introduced to commemorate the Diocese’s anniversary and was endorsed by the then Bishop, Rt. Rev. Prof. Edusah Eyison.
According to Bro. Hosi, the lecture has since become a distinguished platform that inspires reflection on faith, leadership, and service. Over the years, it has featured several eminent speakers, including Rt. Rev. Prof. Edusah Eyison, The Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, Prof. Opoku Onyinah, The Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, and Lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning, who have each contributed to deepening the Church’s intellectual and spiritual discourse.
He emphasized that the annual lecture continues to “tackle issues that guide, lead, and challenge us to fulfill our Christian calling,” serving as a vital tool in nurturing both personal and collective faith.
This year’s lecture was delivered by Bro. Alfred Sakyi, Connexional Vice Chairman of the Lay Movement Council, on the theme “190 Years of Methodist Witness: Rekindling the Flame of Evangelism in the Northern Accra Diocese.” His address focused on the need to renew the Church’s evangelistic zeal in contemporary times, urging members to embrace innovative approaches to ministry while remaining grounded in the Methodist faith.
The event was chaired by Evangelist Mrs. Gladys Osabutey, Chairman of the Fellowship of Methodist Evangelists, who commended the Diocese for maintaining the lecture as a cornerstone of spiritual and intellectual engagement.
Bro. Senyo Hosi further indicated that the Diocese will pay close attention to the issues raised during the lecture, ensuring that the insights gained translate into practical strategies for strengthening evangelism and discipleship.
He added that particular focus will be placed on reviving the spirit of evangelism among the youth, especially within the context of modern technology and changing social dynamics.
“We are committed to rekindling the flame of evangelism in every generation, empowering the youth to share the gospel effectively in today’s digital world,” Bro. Hosi emphasized.
The annual lecture concluded with prayers and reflections, reinforcing the Diocese’s mission to sustain evangelism as the heart of Methodist witness in Ghana.
