The Methodist Girls Fellowship, in partnership with the Breast Society of Ghana, has organized a breast cancer awareness walk from the El-Wak Sports Stadium to the Mamobi Market in Accra as part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Held under the theme “Catch it Early, Treat It Right, Survive It,” the event sought to educate the public on early detection and prevention of breast cancer. The campaign also featured free breast screening sessions, where participants were examined for possible lumps and referred to hospitals for further diagnosis and treatment where necessary.
The event brought together over 120 members of the Methodist Girls Fellowship from the Accra, Winneba, and Northern Accra Dioceses.
In addition to the screenings, some breast cancer survivors shared their powerful testimonies, encouraging participants to prioritize regular checkups and to remain hopeful through treatment.
Speaking at the event, the Connexional Chairperson of the Methodist Girls Fellowship emphasized the importance of early detection and medical follow-up.
“Once you are screened and any abnormality is found in your breast, the team will refer you to a bigger hospital for treatment and monitoring,” she stated.
The awareness walk and screening exercise form part of the Methodist Girls Fellowship’s commitment to promoting women’s health and creating a society that supports early detection, treatment, and survival of breast cancer.
