The Methodist Church Ghana has inducted nine new Lay Chairmen for 9 dioceses within the 24 dioceses of the connexion.
The induction service formed part of the activities marking the start of a new church year.
Delivering the sermon and charge on behalf of the Presiding Bishop, the Immediate Past Presiding Bishop, The Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, urged the new Lay Chairmen to lead with humility and a spirit of service.
He reminded them that true leadership in the Church demands integrity, commitment, and faithfulness to its doctrines and mission.
The Most Rev. Dr. Boafo highlighted the need for the new leaders to strengthen collaboration among members, mobilize both human and financial resources, and work tirelessly to maintain unity and growth within the Methodist community.
Held under the theme “Called to Serve, Anointed to Lead,” the occasion emphasized that the Lay Chairmen were chosen by divine calling rather than worldly qualifications or appearances.
The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop further encouraged them to be servant-leaders willing to listen, to represent their congregations faithfully, and to serve with compassion and wisdom.
He further appealed to family members, friends, and church members to uphold the new Lay Chairmen in constant prayer, offering encouragement and loving correction when needed.
The induction of these nine Lay Chairmen marks an important moment in the life of the Methodist Church Ghana. It is the collective hope of the Church that they will lead with grace, discernment, and dedication bringing blessings and spiritual growth to both the Church and the wider community.
