Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana visits Oguaa Traditional Council

The leadership of the Methodist Church Ghana recently paid a courtesy call on the Oguaa Traditional Council, led by the Oguaa Hene, Osabarimaba Kwesi Atta II.

The visit was aimed at officially informing the traditional leaders of the church’s presence in the area and congratulating the Oguaa Hene on his appointment as a member of the Council of State.

The Methodist Church Ghana delegation was led by the Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev. Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah Gyadu, accompanied by the Lay President, Kwesi Attah Antwi, and the Administrative Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. William Mpere Gyakye.

During the meeting, the Methodist Church leadership formally invited the Oguaa Hene to the Expanded General Purposes Council Meeting (GPC) and the 190th anniversary celebrations of the church. The Oguaa Hene, in turn, gifted the church leadership as a symbol of his appreciation for their visit.

The Methodist Church Ghana’s first chapel is situated in the Cape Coast Diocese, with the historic Wesley Cathedral being a significant landmark. The cathedral is where the first Methodist church was built by missionaries when they first visited the Gold Coast.

The church’s 190th anniversary celebrations are set to climax in the coming weeks, with various activities planned to mark the occasion.

The visit by the Methodist Church Ghana leadership to the Oguaa Traditional Council is a significant gesture of goodwill and respect for the traditional leaders and the people of Cape Coast.
