Barcelona’s ongoing financial challenges have limited their ability to sign players in the transfer market, prompting the club to place greater emphasis on strengthening La Masia, their famed youth academy.
One avenue for this has been their partnership with Africa Foot, an academy working with hundreds of young footballers across the continent. The agreement, which runs until 2028, has already produced talents such as Malian forward Ibrahim Diarra, who featured in Hansi Flick’s pre-season plans.
According to Sport, Barcelona have now reached agreements to bring two more teenagers from Africa Foot — Aboubacar Maiga and Moustapha Traoré — to Catalonia on an initial trial basis.
Maiga is described as a technically gifted organising midfielder with exceptional skills for African football. Seen as a potential pivot, the playmaker has been closely monitored by La Masia coaches for months, who believe he has significant long-term potential.
Traoré is a fast, skilful winger renowned for his effectiveness in one-on-one situations and accurate crossing. While there are some concerns about his overall output, coaches are optimistic about his development should he remain at the club for the coming years.
Both players are expected to join Barcelona imminently for their trial spells.
