13-year-old girl allegedly raped by over 20 men in Madina

Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) and the Justice Revived Foundation (JRF) are calling for immediate action in response to a profoundly troubling case of alleged gang-defilement involving a 13-year-old girl from Madina, Accra.

The young victim, a student at Madina No. 3 School, was reportedly assaulted by more than 20 men, including teenagers, with the horrific incidents beginning in February 2025. The traumatic experience has left her pregnant and emotionally devastated.

A statement from HRRG, shared with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, reveals the girl’s brave testimony.

She reported that the primary suspect, 45-year-old mason Clement Kwame, who lives near her residence, allegedly enticed her with false promises before coercing her into the horrific acts.

Kwame is also accused of orchestrating the assaults with several accomplices, some of whom are believed to be his friends, who took part in multiple attacks.

The statement notes that the girl faced severe threats to keep silent, which greatly hindered her ability to seek assistance.

The case is currently with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Madina.

While authorities have reportedly made some arrests, HRRG and JRF express serious concern that key suspects, including Clement Kwame, remain at large.

The organizations are urging the authorities to accelerate investigations and treat the victim with the highest level of compassion.

Their demands include: the immediate apprehension of Clement Kwame and all other involved suspects; the prosecution of all offenders to the fullest extent of the law; and the provision of comprehensive medical, psychological, and social support for the victim, addressing both her trauma and ongoing pregnancy.

“We will not rest until justice is served,” stated representatives of HRRG and JRF. They emphasized a fundamental principle: “Every child has the right to safety, and perpetrators must be held accountable.”

This distressing case starkly underscores the urgent need for stronger protections for vulnerable individuals.
