A widespread internet outage has disrupted access to several major websites, online games, and mobile applications, including Amazon, Snapchat, and Vodafone.
The disruption began earlier this morning and has been linked to technical issues affecting Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s largest cloud computing providers.
According to outage-tracking site Downdetector, more than 2,000 reports of service interruptions have been recorded in the United States alone.
In a statement on its service status page, Amazon Web Services confirmed it was experiencing “increased error rates” and delays across multiple services. The company said its engineering teams are actively working to identify the cause and restore normal operations as soon as possible.
The outage has caused ripple effects globally, impacting a range of online platforms that rely on AWS for cloud infrastructure.
