The Methodist Church Ghana’s Tarkwa Diocese has donated exercise books and other learning materials to pupils in selected schools across the Prestea Circuit.
The initiative, dubbed “My First Day at School”, was led by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Samuel Dua Dodd, who was joined by ministers, laity and the Western Regional Manager of Methodist Schools, Mr Thomas Kwesi Vormawah.
The delegation was received by pupils and teachers during visits to the schools.
As part of the programme, the Bishop encouraged teachers to excel in their duties and work towards recognition at the forthcoming Bishop’s Excellence Awards.
He also reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to supporting quality education and the welfare of pupils.
The Tarkwa Diocese donated exercise books, sharpeners and erasers to the schools. Teachers were also presented with bottled water and soft drinks in appreciation of their work.
Mr Thomas Kwesi Vormawah commended the initiative and urged teachers to take their responsibilities seriously, particularly in supporting the academic development and overall welfare of pupils.
The programme brought together church leaders, chiefs and elders, Parent-Teacher Associations, School Management Committees, facilitators and learners from the communities visited.
The delegation included the Assistant Secretary of Synod, Very Rev. Alex Abeiku Afful; Coordinating Secretary of COEYD, Very Rev. Christopher Atta-Cudjoe; Assistant Administrator, Rev. Collins Fynn; and Gender Coordinator, Sis. Naana Oforiwaa Yankey.
Community leaders and school representatives expressed their appreciation to the Bishop and the Tarkwa Diocese for the support.
