President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to receive the final report on the Bawku peace mediation process on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at a ceremony to be held at the Jubilee House.
The report marks a significant milestone in national efforts to address the long-standing tensions affecting Bawku and its surrounding communities. It represents months of meticulous mediation led by the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whose leadership has been pivotal in advancing reconciliation and fostering dialogue in the region.
Officials say Thursday’s presentation will highlight the collective commitment of traditional authorities, state institutions, civil society organisations, and international partners toward promoting lasting peace and stability in the conflict-prone area.
The ceremony, set to begin at 10:00 a.m., will convene senior government officials, members of the mediation committee, and invited dignitaries. Key traditional authorities and stakeholders who played active roles in the peace process are also expected to be present.
Institutions participating in the event include the National Peace Council, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Office of the National Chief Imam, the Catholic Secretariat, the UNDP, the British High Commission, and representatives from the Upper East and North East regions. Officials from the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and the National Security apparatus are also scheduled to attend.
The presentation underscores Ghana’s commitment to resolving longstanding communal conflicts through inclusive dialogue and collaborative engagement, reaffirming the role of traditional leadership in national peacebuilding efforts.
