Police arrest principal suspect in Sakumono double murder

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, the principal suspect in the killing of two persons at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, following a search after he went into hiding.

The Police announced his arrest in a post on X on Sunday, November 1, 2026, indicating that he was picked up from his hideout.

“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police stated.

His arrest follows the earlier detention of 47-year-old Beatrice Mumuni, who is suspected of leading Christopher to the victims’ residence before the killings.

The victims have been identified as 57-year-old George Atubiga and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atubiga. They were killed at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Preliminary police investigations suggest the killings may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving an alleged GH¢500,000 debt owed by George Atubiga to Christopher.

According to the Police, Christopher visited the victims’ residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Mumuni, to demand repayment of the money.

A misunderstanding reportedly ensued during the confrontation, resulting in Christopher allegedly shooting and killing the two victims.
