The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has engaged the leadership of the Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG) to strengthen collaboration and improve compliance with road safety regulations.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, September 16, brought together the IGP, members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) and representatives of ORAG.
Discussions focused on concerns raised by commercial motorbike riders and measures to improve their operations.
The IGP urged Okada riders to strictly comply with road traffic regulations and ensure they receive proper training in safe riding practices.
He also called on the association to regularly educate its members on responsible road use to help reduce road crashes.
Christian Tetteh Yohuno further directed the association to ensure that riders are properly identified and registered, while complying with all licensing and motorbike registration requirements.
The Police Administration said the measures are intended to promote accountability among riders and support efforts to improve road safety.
The President of ORAG, Michael Kofi Owusu, expressed the association’s readiness to work with the Ghana Police Service to improve the operations of its members.
He said the association would support efforts to promote road safety and help reduce crime.
The IGP assured the Okada riders that the Police Administration would continue engaging them to address their concerns and strengthen cooperation between the two sides.
