Ghana boosts daily gas supply after ENI-led infrastructure upgrade

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced a major enhancement in Ghana’s natural gas supply, following the successful completion of a critical infrastructure upgrade by Italian energy firm ENI. The improvement increases gas output from 245 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) to 270 MMscfd—an important milestone in the country’s ongoing push for energy reliability and sustainability.

“This enhancement in gas supply is a significant step towards ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply for the nation,” the Ministry said in an official statement released on Monday, July 14.

The increased capacity is expected to provide essential support for Ghana’s electricity generation, helping to stabilize power supply across the country and fueling broader economic growth and industrial development.

The Ministry extended gratitude to ENI and all sector stakeholders for their “dedicated efforts” in delivering the project successfully. It also acknowledged the patience and cooperation of the Ghanaian public throughout the upgrade process, noting: “Your support is invaluable as we work together to build a brighter energy future.”

The statement, signed by Richmond Rockson, Esq., Spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Ministry, reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering consistent, dependable power to citizens. It emphasized that strategic partnerships like this one are critical to achieving long-term energy security and national development.
