President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been appointed as the Chairperson of FIFA’s Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee, marking another major milestone in his international football administration career.
His appointment, which takes effect in 2025, will run for a four-year term ending in 2029.
In this new capacity, Okraku will oversee FIFA’s global initiatives and strategic reforms aimed at eradicating racism and all forms of discrimination within football. He will be supported by Mark Wade of Bermuda, who has been named Deputy Chairperson, alongside 19 other members representing FIFA’s member associations across the world.
Kurt Okraku brings to the position a wealth of experience from his leadership roles in African football. Before this latest appointment, he served as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU Zone B) for two consecutive terms and currently holds the position of 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
His appointment underscores FIFA’s growing confidence in African football administrators and their contributions to global governance and integrity in the sport.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq, has also been appointed to the FIFA Legal Committee for the same four-year period from 2025 to 2029.
The FIFA Legal Committee advises and assists the FIFA Council on legal and regulatory matters, including statutory interpretation, governance frameworks, and compliance issues across the international football landscape.
These appointments highlight Ghana’s increasing presence in world football administration and affirm the confidence FIFA places in Ghanaian football leadership.
