Christian Council of Ghana inaugurates Committee for maiden Ecumenical Convention

The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has inaugurated a seven-member committee to oversee preparations for the maiden Ecumenical Convention, slated for November 14 to 16, 2025, at the University of Ghana.

Held under the theme “Uniting the Body of Christ for Greater Impact,” the convention seeks to strengthen collaboration among Christian denominations in Ghana and the diaspora. The three-day event will feature seminars, workshops, health sessions, awards, and the launch of a financial literacy and entrepreneurship programme.

Key objectives include empowering local church councils, enhancing leadership capacity, and promoting a unified Christian voice on national issues.

The convention will bring together members of the five pioneering churches, the Methodist Church Ghana, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Anglican Church, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church, alongside other denominations, to foster unity and shared purpose.

The committee is chaired by Koku Anyidoho, Founder and Director of the Mills Institute. Other members include Joyce Larko Steiner, Rev. Jehoiada Godwin Amuzu, Rev. Christian Kwaku Tsikata, Stephen Osafo Amoateng, Rev. Mark Quaye, and Salome Kadi Tetteh (Secretary).

Speaking at the inauguration on October 1, CCG General Secretary Rev. Dr. Cyril Fayose highlighted the significance of the convention as the Council approaches its 96th anniversary, noting that it represents “a strategic step toward building unity at the grassroots level.”

The Vice-Chairman of the CCG, Rev. Enoch Thompson, inaugurated and prayed for the committee, urging members to work diligently for a successful event.

In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Anyidoho expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, describing the upcoming convention as “a new beginning” in the Council’s journey toward its centenary. He pledged the committee’s full commitment to promoting unity and advancing national development through the Christian faith.
