The Cape Coast Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana has expressed deep appreciation to all who played a role in the successful hosting of the 13th Expanded General Purposes Council meeting (GPC) 2025 and the grand climax of the Church’s 190th Anniversary celebrations.
The two milestone events drew hundreds of clergy, Lay Chairmen, and members from across the Connexion, creating an atmosphere of worship, fellowship, and decision-making that will resonate long into the future.

The Expanded GPC served as a vital platform for charting the next phase of the Methodist Church Ghana’s mission. Delegates engaged in meaningful discussions, reviewed past progress, and considered new strategies to strengthen evangelism, discipleship, and service to society.
Hosting this important gathering in Cape Coast was highly symbolic, as the Diocese is home to the historic Wesley Methodist Church, the first Methodist society in Ghana, and a landmark in the church’s heritage.
Following the council, the Diocese also hosted the climax of the 190th Anniversary, an occasion marked by thanksgiving, vibrant worship, and renewed commitment to the church’s founding vision. The celebrations not only highlighted 190 years of Methodist presence in Ghana but also offered an opportunity to look forward with a renewed sense of purpose and mission.
Together, the Expanded GPC and the Anniversary climax reminded participants of the enduring strength of Methodism in Ghana. They also reinforced the call for members to embrace evangelism, uphold the church’s values, and live out their faith in ways that impact both the church and society.
With these gatherings now concluded, the Cape Coast Diocese has reaffirmed its commitment to carrying the Methodist vision into the future—anchored in faith, guided by discipline, and inspired by the legacy of nearly two centuries of Christian witness.
