Finance minister to present 2026 Mid-Year budget review on july 23

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is expected to present the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

The announcement was made on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, July 14, by Deputy Majority Leader Kweku Ricketts-Hagan during the presentation of the Business Statement for the upcoming parliamentary week.

The Mid-Year Budget Review is expected to provide an update on the implementation of the 2026 Budget, assess Ghana’s economic performance during the first half of the year and outline possible fiscal policy adjustments.

“On the issue of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review, the date is Thursday, July 23; that is when the Finance Minister will come here to present the Mid-Year Review, as to whether a statement or what have you, that is in the hands of the Finance Minister and I cannot pre-empt that,” Mr Ricketts-Hagan stated.

The presentation, which is subject to Parliament’s sitting arrangements, will follow consultations between the Finance Minister, Cabinet and President John Dramani Mahama on the policy measures expected to be contained in the review.

The statement is expected to go beyond a review of budget implementation and outline government’s plans to sustain economic recovery, improve public finances and promote private sector-led growth in the second half of the year.

Government is also expected to use the review to highlight measures aimed at supporting job creation, increasing productivity and strengthening economic resilience while maintaining fiscal discipline amid ongoing reforms.

A major focus of the presentation is expected to be an update on Ghana’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), including progress under the Extended Credit Facility programme and preparations for a transition to the IMF’s Policy Coordination Instrument, which is expected to guide economic policy after the bailout programme.
