Two individuals have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a 2024 armed robbery attack on the Brent Energy Filling Station at New Edubiase in the Ashanti Region.
The convicts, Kwadwo Baffour, 38, a driver, and Kwame Affisah, also known as Abedinago, 36, were found guilty on June 15, 2026, by the Bekwai Circuit Court on two counts of robbery, contrary to Section 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
According to police prosecutors, the incident occurred on August 17, 2024, at about 1:30 a.m., when the accused persons, armed with pump-action guns, attacked fuel attendants at the station and stole GH₵2,500 in cash as well as personal belongings valued at about GH₵200,000.
Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, His Honour Isaac Appiatu, sentenced Kwadwo Baffour to 20 years imprisonment on each count.
Kwame Affisah, who was already serving a seven-year prison sentence at Kumasi Central Prison for a separate offence, was handed 30 years on each count.
The court ordered that the sentences run concurrently. Both convicts are currently serving their terms at Kumasi Central Prison.
