The Narcotics Control Commission has arrested several suspected drug traffickers following a coordinated anti-narcotics operation carried out across parts of the Greater Accra and Oti regions over the weekend.
In a statement shared on Monday, May 18, 2026, NACOC said the intelligence-led operations formed part of an intensified nationwide crackdown aimed at dismantling illicit drug trafficking networks and reducing substance abuse across the country.
According to the Commission, the raids targeted identified drug hotspots in areas including Kisseiman, Dome and Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
Officials indicated that officers retrieved quantities of suspected narcotic substances and other items believed to be linked to illegal drug distribution activities during the operations.
NACOC also confirmed that a parallel operation was carried out at Alavanyo, where additional suspects were arrested and further quantities of suspected drugs were seized.
The Commission explained that the operations are part of a broader strategy to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal networks engaged in the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs, particularly within densely populated urban communities where the threat is considered more severe.
“All suspects arrested during the raids are currently assisting with investigations pending prosecution,” the statement noted.
NACOC reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining nationwide enforcement actions against drug-related crimes, warning individuals involved in the illicit drug trade to desist or face prosecution under the law.
The Commission further assured the public that it will continue to intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated operations in collaboration with other security agencies to address the growing drug menace across the country.
