New Supreme Court Judges vows to uphold law without fear or favour

Justice Senyo Dzamefe, one of the seven newly appointed justices of Ghana’s Supreme Court, has reaffirmed the judiciary’s dedication to impartial justice on behalf of his fellow justices.

Addressing the nation following the swearing-in ceremony presided over by President John Dramani Mahama, Justice Dzamefe assured Ghanaians of their collective resolve to uphold the rule of law without bias.

“To the people of Ghana, we commit to delivering justice to all persons—without fear, favour, ill will, or personal interest. We stand by the principle of equal justice for all under the law,” he declared.

Justice Dzamefe also extended sincere gratitude to their families, especially spouses and children, acknowledging the critical role they played in their professional journeys.

“For many of us, the path to the Supreme Court has been long and challenging. Yet, our families stood by us—praying, supporting, and believing in this day. And now, it is here,” he said.

He recalled personal moments with his children who frequently questioned why his name wasn’t among those elevated. “They would ask, ‘Daddy, how come your name isn’t on the list?’ Today, that question has been answered—our names are now there,” he shared with emotion.

Concluding his address, Justice Dzamefe invoked divine strength, praying for guidance in fulfilling their duties. “May the Lord grant us the strength to carry out our responsibilities. God bless our homeland Ghana, and bless us all,” he said.
