The Past Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel K. Asante, and other church leaders visited the Manhyia Palace to offer their condolences to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after the passing of his sister, the Queen Mother of Asanteman, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Most Rev. Prof. Asante was accompanied by the Rt. Rev. Stephen Kwaku Wusu, Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese; the Rt. Rev. Sampson Obeng Adjei, Bishop of Kumasi North Diocese; the Effiduase Diocesan Bishop; and Lawyer Asante Krobea. The visit, marked by solemnity and respect, highlighted the strong ties between the Methodist Church and the Asante Kingdom.
The delegation extended the church’s heartfelt condolences to the Asantehene and the entire Oyoko family, describing the late Queen Mother as “a pillar of wisdom, unity, and strength” whose impact will be felt for generations to come.
Background on Nana Konadu Yiadom III
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, born Nana Ama Konadu in 1927, was the 14th Asantehemaa and the biological sister of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. She ascended the stool in 2020, following the passing of her mother and predecessor, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

Revered for her loyalty, counsel, and deep devotion to Asante tradition, the Asantehemaa played a pivotal role in supporting her brother’s reign and preserving Asanteman’s cultural heritage. Her presence at the Manhyia Palace was regarded as a beacon of stability and unity for both the royal household and the wider Asante nation.
The Oyoko Family confirmed her passing to the Asantehene at an emergency Asanteman Traditional Council meeting on Monday, August 11, 2025. Sources close to the family revealed that she passed quietly at dawn on August 7, 2025..
The passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III marks the end of a remarkable era in Asante history, leaving Asanteman and Ghana at large in deep mourning.
