Very Rev Stephen Baffour Awuah honoured at Ascension Methodist Church send-off service

The Ascension Methodist Church at Haatso-Mabey held a special send-off service on Sunday, September 28, 2025, in honour of its outgoing Minister, The Very Rev. Stephen Baffour Awuah. The service brought together ministers, church members, and well-wishers to celebrate his years of dedicated service and to bid him farewell as he prepares to take on his new role as a Superintendent Minister in his next posting.

The service attracted media attention, with Wesleyan Television (WTV) offering detailed coverage of the occasion. Gabriel Nana Asirifi, a journalist with WTV, reported from the venue and described the atmosphere as one of deep gratitude and reflection.

During his address, the Very Rev. Stephen Baffour Awuah reflected on one of the most significant challenges he encountered in his ministry at Ascension, particularly transportation.

He explained that on many occasions, he had to walk long distances before finding a vehicle to continue his journey to church. At times, even ride-hailing drivers declined his requests because he was accompanied by his wife and children. He admitted that these experiences were deeply discouraging, yet he endured them with faith, knowing that his calling required perseverance.

He also recounted moments of personal hardship, including an incident where he fell sick after being pricked twice by a needle, leading to severe bleeding. “It was not easy, but I endured because God had called me to serve His people,” he said, acknowledging the unwavering support of his wife, who stood by him during his most difficult days.

Despite these struggles, Very Rev. Awuah emphasized that his ministry was ultimately about service to God. He encouraged the church members to remain steadfast in their faith, reminding them that trials and opposition can strengthen believers if they continue to rely on God’s providence.

As part of the farewell, tributes poured in from ministers, church members, and invited guests, commending his resilience, humility, and commitment to the work of God. A few weeks prior to the service, he was gifted a brand-new car by popular Kumawood actor Salinko in recognition of his immense service to the church.
