An okada rider lost his life in a hit-and-run crash involving a commercial bus, popularly known as a trotro, at Tetegu on the Accra–Kasoa highway.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when the speeding bus rammed into the motorcycle, which was carrying a passenger. The rider died instantly from the impact, while the pillion passenger survived with serious injuries.
Eyewitnesses say the trotro driver sped off immediately after the collision, despite knowing the extent of the damage caused.
Police later transported the deceased’s body to the mortuary, while the injured passenger was rushed to the hospital for medical care.
The late rider, who worked along the Old Barrier stretch of the Kasoa road, was described by colleagues as a dedicated and hard-working man. His sudden death has left fellow riders at Old Barrier in shock, as they mourn what they describe as a needless tragedy caused by reckless driving.
