Three teenagers jailed 10 years each for armed robbery in Asokore Mampong

The Atasemanso Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has sentenced three 18-year-olds to 10 years imprisonment each for their involvement in a brazen daylight armed robbery at Buobai, a community in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.

The convicted individuals—Mamudu Issah, Samuel Takyi, and Alhassan Abubakari—were arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command during an intelligence-led operation supported by local volunteers. The arrest took place at a hideout in Aboabo shortly after the incident.

According to the police, the suspects, along with three accomplices who are still on the run, launched the attack on the morning of Tuesday, July 1, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Armed with machetes and riding unregistered motorbikes, the group allegedly robbed several residents of their mobile phones, money, and personal belongings.

The three accused were arraigned before the court on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, where they all pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and seven counts of robbery.

In addition, Mamudu Issah pleaded guilty to a separate charge of causing harm. He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on each robbery count and three years for the charge of causing harm. All sentences will run concurrently. His two accomplices—Samuel Takyi and Alhassan Abubakari—were each handed 10-year concurrent sentences.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed that the convicted individuals have been transferred to Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving their sentences. Investigations are ongoing, and police have launched a manhunt for the three other suspects who remain at large.
