The Tema Diocese held its All Preachers’ Seminar together with the First Graduation Ceremony for Lay Preachers, bringing clergy, lay leaders, graduating preachers, families, and invited guests together for reflection, learning, and thanksgiving.
The programme formed part of the Diocese’s ongoing efforts to strengthen preaching ministry through sound biblical teaching, discipline, and practical preparation.
A key feature of the event was the keynote address delivered by the Bishop of the Tema Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ebenezer Popeson Adjei. Speaking on the theme “Walking in the Word: Equipped for Every Good Work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17), the Bishop described the occasion as a celebration of dedication and obedience to Scripture.
He congratulated the graduating lay preachers for submitting themselves to training and formation, and encouraged them to depend on God as they step into active ministry.
In his message, the Bishop explained that the Word of God is not ordinary literature but God-breathed and authoritative for doctrine, conduct, and Christian mission.
He noted that walking in the Word is a calling for every believer, but carries greater responsibility for ministers of the Gospel. According to him, preaching must be supported by a life that reflects Scripture, since credibility in ministry flows from obedience as much as proclamation.
The Bishop further outlined practical ways of walking in the Word, including diligent study of Scripture, obedience to its teachings, prayerful meditation, and faithful proclamation in all circumstances.
Drawing from 2 Timothy 3:1–5, he addressed present-day challenges such as selfishness, moral compromise, pride, lawlessness, and spiritual indifference, stressing that Scripture remains God’s answer to these conditions. He noted that the Word confronts selfishness with love, moral decline with holiness, pride with humility, and disorder with righteousness.
The programme also highlighted the Diocesan Lay Preachers Training Programme, through which participants were equipped in biblical exegesis, theology, homiletics, communication skills, and the responsible use of modern media for ministry. The training was designed to prepare lay preachers to serve effectively in churches and communities across the Diocese.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the graduating lay preachers were charged to believe the Word, proclaim it faithfully, and live it consistently, allowing their lives to reflect the message they preach.
Prayers were offered for the graduates and the Diocese, with the assurance that a church grounded in Scripture will continue to grow in spiritual depth, discipline, and service.
