Tarkwa Diocese Bishop donates school supplies to Pupils in Dunkwa and Mfuom Circuits

The Diocesan Bishop of Tarkwa of the Methodist Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Samuel Dua Dodd, on Tuesday led a high-powered delegation of ministers and laity to commemorate this year’s “My First Day at School” across selected schools in the Dunkwa and Mfuom Circuits of the Diocese.

Joining the Bishop were Madam Perpetual Praise Amegashie, Central Regional Manager of Methodist Schools, and Madam Gifty Nortey Wobson, Human Resource Manager, who honored his invitation to grace the event. The delegation visited schools in Buabin, Dunkwa, Mfuom, and Denkyira Essase, where pupils and teachers warmly received them.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Dua Dodd urged teachers to pursue excellence in their duties, reminding them of the forthcoming Bishop’s Excellence Awards, which recognizes outstanding educators. He further reaffirmed the Methodist Church Ghana’s unwavering commitment to the provision of quality education and the holistic welfare of learners.

As a practical demonstration of this commitment, the Tarkwa Diocese donated exercise books, sharpeners, and erasers to pupils, while teachers were refreshed with bottled water and soft drinks as tokens of appreciation for their dedication.

The initiative earned glowing commendation from Madam Amegashie, who praised the Bishop’s leadership in sustaining the “My First Day at School” programme. She also challenged teachers to take their responsibility for both the academic growth and overall well-being of pupils seriously.

The Bishop’s entourage included Very Rev. Moses K. Aidoo (Secretary of Synod), Very Rev. Alex Abeiku Afful (Assistant Secretary of Synod), Very Rev. Christopher Atta-Cudjoe (Coordinating Secretary, COEYD), Very Rev. Emmanuel Atta Mensah, Very Rev. Kobena Appiah, Rev. Benjamin Oppong (D.Y.O), Rev. Collins Fynn (Assistant Administrator), and Sis. Naana Oforiwaa Yankey (Gender Coordinator), along with several ministers and leaders of the Diocese.

The presence of chiefs, elders, PTA, SMC members, facilitators, and learners in the visited communities further underscored the significance of the programme. Many expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Dua Dodd and the Tarkwa Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana for their thoughtful gesture and commitment to education.
