The Sissala Youth Forum has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his renewed commitment to improving road infrastructure in the Upper West Region, with a particular focus on the Sissala area. The group described the initiative as a major step toward inclusive national development.
In a statement jointly signed by its National President, Sidiki Mumuni, and Deputy Secretary, Shakuul Saani Chiraa, the Forum welcomed the government’s plans announced in the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to prioritise the construction and rehabilitation of key roads in the region. They described the move as both timely and transformational.
The Forum expressed concern over the long-standing poor state of roads in the area, noting that the situation has hampered economic activities, limited access to critical services, and deterred potential investors.
“We are deeply encouraged by the government’s visible efforts, as outlined in the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, to prioritise the construction and rehabilitation of critical roads in the Sissala area. Good road infrastructure is not merely an end in itself but a strategic catalyst for unlocking economic potential, facilitating trade, improving livelihoods, and transforming our area into a hub of opportunity and progress,” the statement read.
The group also called on the government to sustain its momentum, emphasizing the need for timely and sustainable execution of the promised infrastructure projects. It further urged local leaders, residents, and stakeholders to lend their full support to the government’s efforts for the benefit of the entire Sissala area and the country at large.
In addition to the commendation on road projects, the Forum also praised the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the Member of Parliament for the Sissala West Constituency, as Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies. They described the appointment as a strong indicator of President Mahama’s commitment to inclusive governance.
“This decision reflects the strategic placement of competent leaders to drive national development. We are confident that Mr. Sukparu will contribute significantly to Ghana’s digital transformation agenda,” the statement concluded.
