Ghanaian youth international Sarah Nyarko was named Player of the Match after inspiring Police Ladies to a 3-1 victory over Sam Nelly in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers on Wednesday.
The versatile midfielder was in dazzling form at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, scoring once and creating several opportunities as the Ghanaian champions secured their first win of the tournament.
Nyarko, currently on loan from Dreamz Ladies, proved a constant threat to the Benin side’s defence, tormenting the fullbacks and dictating play in the middle of the park. She capped her energetic display with Police Ladies’ second goal, turning home a precise cross from Laura Juul Hansen.
The teenager lasted the full 90 minutes and was deservedly recognised as the best player on the pitch. Her standout performance adds to her growing reputation and will serve as a confidence boost ahead of Police Ladies’ decisive final group game against Togo’s ASKO.
