Real Madrid’s injury woes continue even as the 2024-25 season draws to a close, with young Brazilian forward Endrick Felipe now facing a fresh setback that could see him miss the start of the upcoming campaign.
Endrick had initially been sidelined in mid-May after suffering a hamstring injury during a La Liga clash against Sevilla. The club had hoped to have him available for the knockout stages of the FIFA Club World Cup, but those plans have now been shelved. According to The Athletic, the 17-year-old suffered a relapse while in Miami, where he was holding discussions with Real Madrid officials regarding his development and future role.
The initial recovery timeline of six to eight weeks has effectively reset, and Endrick is now back to square one in his rehabilitation. While The Athletic reports that he will be out for “a number of weeks,” Spanish outlet El Chiringuito paints a more concerning picture, suggesting that the forward could be sidelined for up to two months. If the latter proves accurate, Endrick may not return to full fitness until after the September international break.
As Real Madrid begin their preseason in early August, Endrick is expected to miss critical training sessions and potentially the first three La Liga fixtures. The club opens their 2025-26 campaign at home to Osasuna on August 19, followed by matches against Real Oviedo and RCD Mallorca. If recovery goes according to plan with no additional complications, Endrick could rejoin the squad in late September.
The injury could also complicate his short-term future at the club. Real Madrid have reportedly been considering loaning Endrick out for the upcoming season to gain regular first-team experience. Interest has already emerged from top European clubs including Villarreal, Juventus, and AC Milan.
This potential loan discussion has intensified in recent weeks following the impressive form of fellow young attacker Gonzalo Garcia Torres, who has been a standout performer during the team’s tour of the United States. With Garcia increasingly favored by the coaching staff and Real Madrid’s attacking options growing deeper, Endrick may need consistent minutes elsewhere to continue his development.
Though still only 17, Endrick is viewed as one of Brazil’s brightest talents and a long-term investment for the Spanish giants. However, this latest injury adds another layer of uncertainty to his Real Madrid integration timeline. The club will be cautious in managing his fitness, especially given his age and the importance of preventing chronic issues.
In the meantime, Real Madrid will continue monitoring his recovery closely, with a final decision on a loan move likely to hinge on how quickly he can return to full fitness.
