Real Madrid confident in pursuit of Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté

Real Madrid are stepping up their pursuit of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, with growing belief in Spain that a deal could be sealed by next summer.

Los Blancos, who invested €120m into strengthening their backline this year, view Konaté as the next piece in their defensive rebuild. With Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba expected to depart, the Frenchman has been identified as a long-term anchor in Madrid’s defence.

Liverpool, however, are desperate to keep him. Reports suggest the club has already made three contract renewal attempts, all rejected by Konaté. On Monday, the Reds tabled a fresh offer to his agent in a last-ditch effort to secure his future at Anfield.

Interestingly, the news of Liverpool’s latest offer broke just hours before a highly reliable Madrid source declared that the Spanish giants were “completely confident” of landing Konaté. While no formal bid has yet been made, Real Madrid are said to be preparing to move decisively once the defender becomes available.

For Liverpool, the risk is clear: having lost a cornerstone in their backline already in recent years, the thought of Konaté following suit would be a significant blow. Financially, the Reds are expected to outbid Madrid, but the lure of the Santiago Bernabéu may prove difficult to resist.

For now, the tug of war continues — but the momentum appears to be shifting toward Madrid.
