The Leadership of the Methodist Church Ghana on Thursday received a special visit from the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) champions, Mfantsipim School, as the team proudly presented their newly–won trophy to the Church during the ongoing Nov. 2025 General Purposes Council (GPC) Meeting at Wesley Towers in Accra.
The visit, filled with excitement and reverence, symbolised more than the celebration of academic victory. It reaffirmed the deep bond between Mfantsipim School and the Methodist Church, the institution under which the school was founded and continues to draw its values, discipline, and ethos.
Welcoming the delegation, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Prof Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu expressed immense delight at the school’s back–to–back national triumph, describing Mfantsipim as “a true pride of Methodism and a beacon of excellence for the nation.”
He congratulated the students for their outstanding performance and applauded the tutors for the countless hours of preparation that contributed to the victory. According to him, the commitment of the teachers reflects the Methodist tradition of sacrifice and purposeful mentorship.
The Presiding Bishop further encouraged the students to remain grounded even in the midst of national recognition.
He cautioned them against the trend where “some begin well but end up in paths that are nothing to write home about,” urging them to uphold consistency, discipline, and integrity as they progress in life.
He reminded the champions that their success should not only be seen as a personal achievement but as a powerful inspiration for those coming after them.
The visit ended on a dignified and hopeful note, reinforcing the enduring bond between Mfantsipim School and the Methodist Church Ghana. It affirmed the shared commitment to nurturing disciplined, morally grounded, and academically distinguished young people who will continue to shape the nation’s future.
