One dead, several injured in violent youth clash at Sankor, Winneba

One person has been confirmed dead following a violent confrontation between rival youth groups in Sankor, a suburb of Winneba in the Central Region.

The cause of the clash, which occurred on Sunday, January 25, remains unclear. Videos circulating on social media depict members of the opposing groups wielding machetes during the incident.

Confirming the violence, Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, stated that several individuals sustained injuries. He added that police have arrested multiple suspects after reviewing footage from the scene.

The deceased, identified only as Excoba, reportedly succumbed to multiple machete wounds and gunshot injuries sustained during the clash.

ACP Opoku assured the community that police have intensified security measures in the area to prevent further disturbances. He confirmed that calm has since been restored while investigations continue to determine the cause of the confrontation and hold all perpetrators accountable.
