Nursing mother drowns in community pond at Amuana Praso

A 42-year-old nursing mother has drowned in a community pond at Amuana Praso in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.

The deceased, identified as Grace Amanuwaa, was said to have gone to fetch water from the pond, which serves as a communal source of water for residents, when the incident occurred.

Her sister, Akua Boatemaa, told Adom News that Grace had a history of epilepsy and is suspected to have suffered a seizure while drawing water, resulting in her drowning.

The body of the mother has been taken to the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

Her grieving husband, Kwabena Ayigbe, who was reportedly on his farm at the time of the tragedy, has appealed to the Ghana Police Service to release the body for burial.
