News analyst Mr. Nicholas Taylor has publicly expressed strong support for Ghana’s newly appointed Supreme Court judges, firmly rejecting claims that they are politically exposed, as alleged by the opposition.
Speaking on WTV’s morning show, Mr. Taylor commended President John Dramani Mahama for the appointments and urged the new justices to prove their impartiality through diligence, fairness, and integrity in their rulings.
“There’s no evidence to suggest that these judges are politically aligned with the ruling government,” Mr. Taylor said in response to concerns raised by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). “They are professionals with proven track records, and I believe their output will be exceptional if they remain focused and committed.”
He emphasized that judicial performance—not speculation—should shape public perception, and called on the judges to uphold the principles of justice without fear or favour.
“The judges need to work hard and show Ghanaians that they were appointed to serve justice. Their judgments must be clean, impartial, and transparent,” he noted.
While acknowledging ongoing public skepticism, Mr. Taylor encouraged the justices to rise above partisanship and let their decisions speak for themselves.
“This is their moment to lead by example. Ghanaians are watching, and the judiciary must affirm its independence through action.”
His remarks come amid growing debate about the judiciary’s autonomy and the influence of politics on state institutions—especially in the run-up to national elections.
Mr. Taylor’s position adds to the broader national conversation on judicial credibility, reinforcing the importance of performance, transparency, and non-partisanship in maintaining public confidence in Ghana’s democratic institutions.
