Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, a former traditional priestess turned evangelist, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Circuit Court in Accra.
The conviction stems from charges of charlatanic advertisement and obtaining money under false pretenses.
Nana Agradaa was found guilty of misleading numerous individuals through a televised broadcast in 2022, during which she falsely claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of doubling money.
Enticed by the promise of supernatural financial gains, many victims handed over significant sums, which were never returned.
The court’s ruling is being hailed as a landmark judgment in the fight against fraudulent spiritual schemes and deceptive religious practices.
Ahead of the sentencing, the court mandated a pregnancy test to ensure due legal process, which confirmed she was not pregnant—clearing the way for sentencing to proceed.
The decision has sparked widespread public support, with many viewing it as a decisive move toward justice and a stern warning to others engaging in similar fraudulent activities.
