With a quickfire double after the break, Kylian Mbappe propelled Real Madrid to another convincing victory, maintaining their perfect league record.
The French star struck twice in quick succession, including a cheeky Panenka penalty in the 64th minute and a composed finish moments later, taking his tally to seven league goals this campaign. His double effectively ended any hopes of a Levante fightback and kept Madrid five points clear at the top of the table.
Vinicius Jr had earlier set the tone with a sensational outside-foot strike before turning provider for Franco Mastantuono, who marked his first league goal for Madrid in emphatic style. The 18-year-old Argentine became the club’s fourth-youngest scorer in La Liga history, surpassing Vinicius himself.
Levante briefly found a way back into the contest when Etta Eyong headed in Ivan Romero’s cross, but Madrid’s quality in attack proved too much.
The victory also means manager Xabi Alonso has become only the second Real boss to win his first six league matches, leaving him one game short of Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s 2005 record of seven straight wins. Alonso’s side will now look to continue their perfect run in Saturday’s highly anticipated Madrid derby against Atletico.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have the chance to close the gap when they travel to Oviedo on Thursday.
