The Methodist Church Ghana convened a Legal Coordinators Retreat at Wesley Towers in Accra, bringing together its legal professionals to reflect on their role in safeguarding the church’s mission and providing strategic guidance on legal matters affecting both the church and society.
The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, who could not attend in person due to his official duty at the 10th Anniversary of the Fosu Diocese, delivered a recorded address which was played to participants at the retreat. His message, described as both pastoral and instructive, encouraged ministers and legal officers alike to remain faithful to the calling of discipleship.
He emphasized that the pulpit must remain sacred, cautioning against its misuse. “Our pulpits must not become platforms for settling personal scores. Ministry is about service to God and His people, not personal battles,” he said.
The Presiding Bishop also commended the legal team for their commitment in guiding the church on sensitive legal issues. He reminded them that their profession is also a ministry, one that requires compassion, integrity, and fairness rather than competition.
The retreat served as a platform for Methodist legal professionals to reflect on their work, address pressing matters such as land and governance issues, and strengthen their collaboration with church leadership in advancing both faith and justice.
